Sundays at Cross & Crown

Cross & Crown’s meal and worship has come to an end for this season.  Also, we enjoyed the final Rock Island Bible study, meal and game for elementary aged students.  Thank you to all the youth groups, house groups and others that help make Sunday evenings possible.  Both activities will pick back up again sometime in September/October.  Image

Spring Break Happenings

The last two weeks have been fun & fast paced around here. Most of the extra activity & fun (& noise) was due to the OKCPS students being on Spring Break.

During this two week time period Cross & Crown closes the food pantry, clothing room & other daily ministries for the first week of Spring Break to allow volunteers & staff to spend some extra time with their children. Also, during this week Rock Island adds some extra activities & happenings to the schedule to help keep some of the kids busy that might have parents working and/or have lots of free time.

The second week of Spring Break Cross & Crown operates on its’ normal daily schedule and Rock Island continues to have some extra things planned for the kiddos throughout the day.

Here’s a look at some of what Spring Break 2014 had to offer us…

In addition to our Spring Break happenings we continued with our Sunday evening meal & worship at Cross & Crown, as well as, our Bible story, crafts & games for elementary students (& maybe the older kids like to stick around for some games too).

This past week we were excited to have the youth group from New Hope Church of Christ come again and teach us more about who Jesus is and introduce a new game too!

Sunday Evening Update!

Due to the weather & road conditions we will not be having our Sunday evening meal & worship tonight.

If you have been collecting warm clothing to distribute for tonight’s happenings please hang on to those items as we will be distributing them throughout the next couple weeks during our normal ministry hours.

Please pass along this information to others it concerns. Thanks & stay warm!

Holiday Plans

The holidays are upon us and during this time of the year we get a lot of questions and interest from folk that want to help. So, in order to provide some clarity for those that are interested, here is our plan and how you can be involved!

Cross & Crown

December 8, 6:00-8:00ish Christmas dinner and worship

*this is the evening that we will distribute jackets, gloves, scarfs, warm clothing to whomever is present.

*there is also a possibility of a group coming to distribute $5 gift cards to parents for places like Sonic, Braums, Mcdonalds, ect.

*there will be a group present leading worship and several others present that are coming to help distribute the warm clothing

Rock Island

*we will have a meal and Christmas party December 10. Every year looks different for us. Some years we partner with youth groups and have a combined celebration, other years we take the youth off site to a movie or to eat in Bricktown. Our plans are determined based on involvement/financial givings of donors and groups.

*each Christmas we like to give the youth a gift. Rather than overwhelm them w/the latest toy, gadget or shiny new thing we prefer to provide them w/a Rock Island sweatshirt. Practical and a little sentimental all in one 🙂

To summarize, here’s how you can help.

1. Collect, purchase or give money towards us purchasing NEW warm clothing. Desired items are jackets, gloves, beanies/toboggan and scarfs. (Desired sizes: Mens Xl/XXL & all sizes for children)

2. Come help distribute the warm clothing December 8 at Cross & Crown at 6:00.

3. Give financially to Rock Island in order to provide an opportunity for the youth to go off site/provide a meal, ect. As well as, purchase sweatshirts for each of the youth.

Let us know if you have any questions or need further explanation. Thanks for your interest in helping out!
